I've read peoples comments on this site in the past and im somewhat shocked. Someone mentioned how you should not just address how you want to become famous but address important issues going on in the world. You said you idolize oprah but on this site you talk alot about yourself which is great because you are documenting how you are reaching your goals but at the same time a national tragedy happened just a couple of days ago at virgina tech 32 people lost their lives and suprisingly nothing was posted at all. Even just a short sentence to pay respect. I just thought it would have been nice for someone who is trying to reach out to the public in a positive way.

If this was a talk show or a discussion of worldly topics, Im sure that would get mentioned. This is a personal blog. If I was to address that tragedy I would be wrong not to address the others that occur weekly around the world. I realize it is big in the American media, but it is no more important than the 100's of Iraqis that are innocently slaughtered by American soldiers. I feel for those who lost loved ones at VT, but this is not the place for world news to be discussed, debated, or reminisced.

I understand it is a personal blog and yes there are other things going on in the world like the war in iraq but you have to also take note that alot of your viewers and fans and maybe even peers share the same concerns over whats going on being young college and university students who worry about their safety in the classroom and kudos to marica who actually mentioned it. You cant tell me that you wanting to be a TV personality involves just simply soley talking about your dreams. It involves reaching out to others-how about your idol oprah winfrey a TV personality who's most succesful has touched so many issues that affect her viewers like the VT masacre. American Idol is not a talk show or a place to discuss wordly topics nor are hockey games but all which have at least mentioned the tragedy and respects to the victims. If you had an opportunity to interview a VT student because it is a worldy topic would you not interview them in one of your shows just because its not pertaining to your dream or because its a worldly topic? just a question

I really don't know what you are reaching at here. If anything, why are you only concerned about this one incident? Start reading on a more international level and you will see where I am coming from. I can't give preference to certain deaths over others. You breeze rite over the Iraq thing like it is nothing. Do you know how many innocent people have died there? Do your research. Young people die there too. Mothers and their children are being killed as well. I said from the start that this is not the proper forum for those things.

And When is the last time I talked about my dreams? All I talk about here now is what is going on relating towards this one specific goal.

And no I would not interview a VT student because if people want that content, they turn on CNN. I am trying to accomplish something different. You seem to enjoy writing, so I encourage you start your own blog. Write for 100 days, then see how you feel when someone starts telling you what to write about on your blog.

Sorry if I seem rude, this is just incredibly frustrating. But moreso, I am writing this after getting home from the Canucks game. They lost 1-0 in OT.

Interesting talk. I am a fan of this site but I have to agree with Anna. A short sentence like what your partner wrote would be nice. Maybe she makes a good point that you should talk about concerns or at least touch base on more serious issues not all the time but you cant say this site is just a personal blog when you are interviewing others about their experiences. This is just constructive criticism and i think you are kind of taking it harshly like the most recent posting states you are looking for ideas from your viewers and readers well this is exactly what we're doing.

I don't interview people on this site. That happens on thedreamstreet.com :)

I'm not taking it harshly, people comment on the site because they want answers so I give them straight up.

Marica is the one calling for reader suggestions and she only posts here once a month so I don't know what to do with that.

rick, i'm glad you acknowledged your fear of failure. one of my favourite quotes is:
"don't be afraid to fail or succeed. be afraid you may never have the opportunity to do either."

both successes and failures are learning tools, but it is from the failures that we learn more. more about ourselves, more about how to achieve our goals. you're taking a risk with this whole thing, putting yourself out there. that's very admirable. lots of people wouldn't have even tried and would be left wondering "what if?".

Rick - I think it's right of you not to publish anything regarding the Virginia Tech incident. For goodness sake.

The families must have receives thousands of cards, messages, but may I ask why the families need to be reminded EVERYWHERE they look, Anna? Sure it was a tradgedy, but this is a personal blog...

I see your point, but I think the world already knows what's happened. Go for it Rick, and best of luck! I'm sure you'll do amazing, as usual! :D
